Post Graduate Medical Institute - Anaesthesia

The Department of Anaesthesia at Saleem Memorial Hospital, Lahore, is a CPSP-approved postgraduate training department for FCPS training.
The department provides comprehensive holistic clinical services for pre, peri and postoperative periods. It provides acute and chronic pain services by the proper qualified and foreign accredited consultants while maintaining structured academic and clinical training programs in accordance with CPSP standards.
The department also provides the critical care services through intensive care unit and also being an integral part of Emergency Room, Non Operating Room Anaesthesia in Diagnostic and interventional Radiology and interventional Cardiology teams.
The department has already gained a reputation of passing the FCPS final examination and FCAI examination for those candidates who have completed their training elsewhere.
The senior faculty has more than 140 years of experience in Anaesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Management. The faculty has led anaesthetic and critical care teams in university & district general hospitals in UK, Ireland and Pakistan. The lead consultant is a recognized ACLS instructor, remained as ALS course director by UK Resus Counsil and BASIC Course director, apart from being an essential pain management instructor and supervisor / examiner of CPSP.
The department supports multiple surgical and medical specialties and ensures safe anaesthetic management across diverse patient populations.
As an accredited CPSP training department offers structured FCPS training including:

●  Supervised clinical rotations as per CPSP curriculum
●  Exposure to emergency and trauma anaesthesia
●  Regular academic activities:
1. Case Based discussions
2. Clinical Examination
●  Journal clubs
⁠●  Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS)
1. Morbidity & mortality meetings
2. Simulation-based airway and crisis management sessions
3. Research supervision and guidance as per CPSP requirements

Trainees are progressively entrusted with independent responsibilities under consultant supervision to ensure skill development and professional growth.
FCPS Training according to CPSP timetable will start twice a year in July & January. The enlistment of Post Graduate Residents will be done against number of Training spaces available .
