Post Graduate Medical Institute - Emergency Medicine

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Saleem Memorial Hospital, Lahore is a fully accredited postgraduate training department recognized by CPSP for FCPS-II training in Emergency Medicine.
The department delivers comprehensive, high-quality emergency care while sustaining a robust academic and clinical training framework aligned with CPSP standards.
Under the leadership and supervision of Dr. Qasim Nawaz Sahi, the department is committed to excellence in patient care, hands-on clinical exposure, and continuous academic mentorship for postgraduate trainees.
The Emergency Department operates round-the-clock, providing immediate and specialized care for:

●  Medical and surgical emergencies
●  Polytrauma and road traffic accident cases
●  Cardiac emergencies (including ACLS-based management)
●  Stroke and acute neurological emergencies
●  Sepsis and infectious disease emergencies
●  Respiratory distress and critical airway management
●  Pediatric and geriatric emergencies

The department is equipped with:

●  Modern resuscitation bays
●  Designated Paediatric Emergency & Minor Operation Theatre
●  Advanced cardiac monitoring systems
●  Ventilatory support facilities
●  Rapid diagnostic services

As a CPSP-approved training center, the department offers a structured FCPS-II Emergency Medicine training program that includes:
Clinical Training

●  Supervised clinical rotations as per CPSP curriculum
●  Mandatory procedural competency training, including: Basic & advanced airway management, trauma resuscitation, circulatory shock management, aligned with international training standards

●  Case-based discussions
●  Journal clubs
●  Morbidity & Mortality meetings
●  Simulation-based training sessions
●  Research methodology and Article writing (as per CPSP requirements)

Trainees receive extensive exposure to high-acuity cases, fostering progressive independence and strong clinical decision-making skills.
FCPS Part-II training positions are offered twice annually, during January & July. Enrollment of Postgraduate Residents is conducted against approved training slots, subject to the kind approval of the competent administration.
